Rihanna reference #450

Jamie and I entertained her 15-year-old sister over the weekend, which actually sent me into a wave of nostalgia. We took her up to Clark and Belmont since she’s into Fall Out Boy and having her lip pierced (it seemed natural!) I used to hang out in the area a lot when I first moved to the city and lived downtown. When you’re young, broke and know nothing about the city, there’s always something going on at Clark and Belmont, even if its just giggling in sex shops or people watching.

I think Mandy was most excited about Pete Wentz’s store/salon and not necessarily the shops like Hollywood Mirror. She found a poster at Beyond the Wall, though, and I was able to have my first Gaymart experience (I was underwhelmed, though it’s got a lot of action figures, surprisingly.)

We finally found some patio furniture to our liking, including a wooden bench from the Brown Elephant that is brand new for only $15. (I am so easily pleased!)

Michelle came over and utilized her shears and recent beauty school graduation skills to give us new ‘dos. Then we had our first official porch party which really consisted of sitting on said porch from sunlight into moonlight. Success!
