Back in school we used to dream about this everyday

Candace and Johnny are back in Chicago for a few days after a two month stint in Europe. A small group of us assembled at Piece to hear about their travels and thank them for the postcards before they return to Ohio and Indiana.

Candace showed us the rings Johnny proposed to her with at the top of a mountain in Germany, and proceeded to read us a list of musical artists and songs they will absolutely not play at their wedding reception, which included R. Kelly, Boys II Men, and “I Will Survive.” Ann, Jamie, Alicia and I argued that “Ignition Remix” and “Motown Philly” were must-haves or else we simply would not attend. If Johnny had it his way, the reception would be all drone music, all the time, so we probably won’t get anywhere with our demands.Despite the wedding not being for another three years–after Alicia returns from Zambia and the couple pays off their massive debt from aforementioned European vacation–they had drawn out their wedding attire and passed it around for us all to see.

Tonight, Stella gave her c0w costume another whirl around Wicker Park and received comments like “He’s a cow for today!” and “I think it’s dressed as a bull.” Phyllis‘ was having some sort of Jack-o-lantern display and Jamie and I couldn’t resist some Halloween cupcakes from the bakery. So far the rest of my holiday has consisted of finishing up my music column, drinking a glass of red wine, and texting my sister in the ER. Just as relaxing as planned.
